Thanks so much! Have you tried clicking on it again…it comes up pretty big here, with a lot of resolution. When I saw this particular crystal, I just “had to have it.” LOL
I checked it out larger and the image is exquisite. I know what you mean about “having to have it”. I found a standing polished Dow Phantom for less than $7 the day I took my first walk through a physical Labyrinth. Before then I had only done the Virtual ones. It was such an amazing experience I thought it seemed important to commemorate w/ a solid object to remember it by.
And, by the way, THANK YOU for taking the time to take a close look at this shot. I thought it was pretty good when I took it and it makes me happy to know that someone else has enjoyed it.
Well, as Leonard Cohen would say, there is a crack, a crack, in everything…that's how the light gets in. Seriously, there's nothing on the outside of this crystal, so it must be some inclusion or just a refraction phenomenon.
I happen to like this photo, so I'll invite you to click on it a couple of times until you see it at maximum resolution…
Truth is, I'm a sucker for nice looking smoky quartz points, and this one, which stands about 5” tall, was a good deal for $36.
Beautiful Shot! And that's saying something considering this is right up there with how hard it is to adequately photograph jewelry.

Actually I was looking close enough to wonder what the source of the red inclusion is. Any ideas or is that something deposited on the outside?

Exquisite! The power of crystal.
