Well, no "cover" image available...that's not good. Anyway, this is just experimentation, so I'll let it be for now.  I'm going to put some more non-equipment bouncing up soon as well. -- J.

Leonard Cohen's Talk: Updated With 4 More Video Snippets

Posted on Oct 9th, 2007 by Jordan : LightWriter Jordan

Last night, October 8th, 2008, Leonard Cohen and Philip Glass had a conversation, at Stanford's Memorial Auditorium--hosted by the Aurora Forum in association with the Stanford Lively Arts program--about Mr. Glass's theatrical version of Mr. Cohen's book of poetry called Book of Longing.

The evening was moderated by Alan Acosta, who facilitated a really delightful time. Both Leonard and Philip are humble masters of their respective arts. In particular, Leonard was warm, witty, and absolutely wonderful.

Just for fun, I took a little bit of video with my Canon SD 850 still camera from my second row vantage point. (We waited two hours in line to be near the front)....And now, scroll down to see 4 more video snippets.

NO, THE VIDEO ISN'T HIGH QUALITY; AND NO, IT'S NOT EDITED; BUT YES, THE VIDEO WILL GIVE YOU MORE TASTES OF LEONARD COHEN AND PHILIP GLASS. So, if you're a fan, then bite the bone and have a gas.

Hope you enjoy the video!

Jordan's Lessons to Matthew on How to ChiBound: Lesson # 1

Posted on Oct 12th, 2007 by Jordan : LightWriter Jordan
[SCROLL DOWN FOR THE FIRST VIDEO LESSON]

Hi all. Mr. Matthew Mogen, who is a big part of Zaadz here, has been inspired to ChiBound regularly and blog about it, recording his experiences and results. As Matthew says:

I have to tell you Jordan, what you've done on your rebounder has inspired me :)  I've been saving up for this piece of equipment for a while now, and I hope my blog will inspire others, as well.

Well, Matthew and I have been in some contact by email, and he has had some questions about how to best ChiBound. Well, it occurred to me that, to the degree I could, i would answer these questions via video, since that's really a better way than fixed words to get the ideas across.

With an homage to Paul Galico's brilliant writing on cats, and his piece called something like "Jenny's Lessons to Peter on How to be a Cat" (anybody have the exact title to that?), I am calling this series, "Jordan's Lessons to Matthew on How to ChiBound."

So, here is Matthew's first set of questions, and below is my video response:

Well, now I want to develop a good routine that I can build on (something like... warm up for __ minutes followed by 3 minutes of this followed by 3 minutes of that, etc).  So, if you could post something about yours, that would be awesome!  I'd like to make sure however I'm bouncing that I work all the major muscle groups, though it feels like that probably happens with just the bouncing.  Also, the booklet Sylvia sent me says to always keep at least one foot in contact with the mat.  I was wondering what your take is on that (sorry if you covered that in your book... I'll have to re-read it).

Jordan's Lessons To Matthew On How To Chibound, Lesson # 1

Well, that's it! I'm also posting this in a disussion board in my ChiBounding pod, and if you have any responses or would like to see what other says, please go there.

Great Resource Re: What emotion do you struggle the most with?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 16, 2007:

OK, I have a fabulous resource for those interested in the emotions. It's a course from the teaching company, called "Passions: Philsophy and the Intellgence of Emotions." The professor for this one, Bob Solomon, has done some ground-breaking work here. I found it extremely engrossing.

And I have absolutely no financial or other interest in this other than the joy of sharing a truly spectacular set of audio lectures. (I didn't watch the DVD.) This set is on sale right now, and then will be off sale for the next 10 months or so.

Bob Solomon died this year in January a Zurich airport, changing planes. It makes everything he says here even more poignant. Read the desciption of the course and then imagine that it's one of the best professors you've ever heard, then buy it. And after you buy it, share it with people you know.

ChiBounding: An Experimental Stop MotionVideo Showing 3 Things

Posted on Oct 28th, 2007 by Jordan : LightWriter Jordan
[THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE TITLES ARE BLOTCHY BUT THEN IT CLEARS UP RIGHT AWAY. An associated written blog entry can be found immediately below.]

ChiBounding: Stop Motion Video to Show 3 Things

Well, here I am in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, with no rebounder of any sort...but I can still experiment with chibounding viideo!

So, sometime last week I shot some video, of which I'd like to put up the whole 25 minute sequence.

[I know it can be hard to imagine what I do with all that time day after day after day for thousands of days. That's why I will occasionally put up longer sequences,  to give an idea of what one person's long rebounding/chibounding session might look like after five years of daily bouncing.]

But in the meantime, here's an excerpt, with the stop motion video filter from Final Cut aplied. I'm not sure if this works, really, so I'd love some feedback on whether the use of this filter is actually a plus or not.

So, I speak about three things in this video. First, I start exploring the "force flux" hypothesis and what I am coming to believe is the real reason that rebounding is so effective in many ways. Basically, one's body basically consists of mass, that mass is obviously moved through space over a duration of time when bouncing, and therefore, notwithstanding the "assist" of the rebounder's elastic components, one is doing a lot of work and using a lot of power when rebounding. (When the change of direction -- the accelerative thrust -- of discplacing body parts includign arms is taken into account, this kind of work and power go to an even higher level.)

Note, too, that while you can generate or have a lot of power flow through you, it is relatively easy to do so--this has to do with one of the only real conclusions that NASA put forth in their early study on rebounding, that it is a highly efficient activity when oxygen consumption is looked at vis-a-vis total work output. Also, it not only tends to not hurt the knees or other soft tissue, it actually presents a chance to do healing work on these...but that's another story.

Second, I took about the value and benefits of "letting go" at the top of the bounce. By doing so, by really giving "in and down" to gravity, by completely relaxing, you can have a much more coherent fluidic and wave-like experience and you can bounce both higher and better.

Finally, I begin -- and just begin -- to broach the notion of "GodBouncing." [It's going to be a while before GodBouncing.com is needed, but just you wait, 'enry 'iggins.]

If, for example, you see me near the 3-minute mark as a multi-armed Shiva, that is, if you can see me as emobdying the god-form of Shiva (or your favorite multi-armed Hindu or Budhist deity), you can see how it would be possible to in effect "become" or "dance as" a particular god-form. You can meditate on the god-form of your choice, perhaps meditating before or during, or breathing "as if" the god-form, and you can embody the energy that the god-form of your choice represents.

Taking GodBouncing in another way, as you bounce you -- your mass, your body, the physicality of you -- becomes the object that is being bounced. That is, God is doing the bouncing -- God/Goddess/AllThatIs is bouncing you -- rather than you willfully bouncing. This is a more advanced, almost a kind of non-dual, bouncing that I didn't really start experiencing until my third or so year. Some of you who are serious meditators will, I'm sure, be able to have this experience much earlier in your bouncing experience.

Well, that's enough for now. Thanks for watching, and please, when it's time for you to make a move to a Bellicon rebounder, give me a shout either here, at Enlightenment.Com, or at EnlightenSource.com.

How do you feel about being paid for your work?

Posted on Oct 29th, 2007 by Jordan : LightWriter Jordan
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for October 29, 2007:

This is an interesting question.

I used to write about enlightenment, for Enlightenment.Com, and got paid very little.

Now, I write about the financial services industry, and, for a writer (mainly a ghostwriter, these days), get paid pretty well. (And why do I write about the financial services industry? Because, following Willie Sutton, that's where the money is.)

I would rather be writing about enlightenment, but then again, getting paid is very important. This was a big developmental step for me, to recognize that I could be in the world and then reserve enough energy to continue on with my other projects.

So, ultimately, I feel very good about being paid for my work. I am -- or at least I am told that I am -- an excellent writer who does great work. I am paid well, I should be paid well, and I will continue on with this until a better method of dealing with the financial realities of life appears on the horizon.
