Ongoing Practice
Had 5 good days of outdoor bouncing in a row now, each 45 minutes. One new thing I tried today involved shaking my fingers and hand while making circles with my arms while running in place fast. You would have had to have seen it...
NEED YOUR HELP TO CHOOSE A NAME
I hope you can tell that I'm sincere about my enthusiasm for rebounding generally. As I move forward with this, I've come to a word choice, a name game question. Should it be:

That is, moving forward, as I put together a finished book and manual and video instruciton product, what would be the name that you would most like to see me call it?
Jodi, whose energy and general intuitive sense I trust, feels that "chibouncing," or "ChiBouncing," might be the best. Do you agree with her? Or have another suggestion? I'd love to hear your comments! Thanks.

NEED YOUR HELP TO CHOOSE A NAME
I hope you can tell that I'm sincere about my enthusiasm for rebounding generally. As I move forward with this, I've come to a word choice, a name game question. Should it be:
- rebounding (Rebounding)
- bouncing (Bouncing)
- chibounding (ChiBounding)
- chibouncing (ChiBouncing)
That is, moving forward, as I put together a finished book and manual and video instruciton product, what would be the name that you would most like to see me call it?
Jodi, whose energy and general intuitive sense I trust, feels that "chibouncing," or "ChiBouncing," might be the best. Do you agree with her? Or have another suggestion? I'd love to hear your comments! Thanks.

Well, I respect Jodi's judgment 100%. But I like “ChiBounding” the best because it adds a directional flavor. Granted, you ARE more of just bouncing in the relative sense. But, spiritually speaking, you're trying to actually “go somewhere” per se with this practice, right? Whether that be to a higher spiritual plane, a new realized state of consciousness, or just a healthier body-mind. So, those are my arguments for “ChiBounding.”
Namaste!
You bring up some good points, Matthew.
“Bound” is one of those funny words that means the opposite of itself. Another example is “cleave,” which both means to cut and to hold together. Words such as these are called homophones, and it has long been my contention – however inarticulate I've been about it – that homophones are never accidents. (I wrote perhaps the worst essay of my life recently on this topic; see http://www.enlightenment.com/enlightenblogs.html and looks for “The Prophets Sea”).
So, “bound” means to leap or to jump up and out, and bound also means to put a perimeter around, to put a bounds or bounds on something.
It also means “to make an agreement”: they were bound by their actions.
So, do people want their chi to bound? Yes. Do people want their chi to be bounded? I'm not so sure. There's something inherently “negative,” it seems, about being limited, about being bounded in any way.
Now, you can argue that it is only when you put limitations on something – when you bound it – that it becomes real and takes on form, like time (Saturn/Chronos) binding us. In that case, if chibounding is seen as the agreement one makes with oneself – to bound one's chi for a set period of time a set number of days a week (or whatever you like) – then perhaps it could satisfy all three definitions of “bound” here and therefore really be the right name for this “movement” (practice).
ChiBound also rhymes with rebound, of course, which makes it attractive to the degree that anyone who has ever tried rebounding will more easily recognize what it is, while the idea of “bouncing” generally has no other obvious connotation attached to it. So, it could just as easily be called “bouncing” as “chibouncing,” it seems; in fact, for many months – and still to this day – the simple, easy, vernacular way my family would refer to my activity was and has been “bouncing.” As in, “I bounced today for 45 minutes,” or “Are you really going to bounce now? That takes an hour out of the day.”
Well, these are just some first thoughts that I had in response to your comment, Matthew. I am still leaning towards”chibounding,” because it feels it could “go all the way,” but I too trust Jodi's judgment 100%, and I actually like the way both terms sounds.
Thanks for your thoughts, now and in the future.
i vote for Chibouncing or Chibounding too. i like Chibounding better though.
but check out this (potentially) whole-body bouncing experience and imagine the possibilities :)
~C (for Chibouncing or Chibounding will do)
Very cool! It reminds me of the idea of hooking up magnets and coils to wires to generate electricity and feed it back into the grid while rebounding. The patriotic nature of this would be clear: build immune systems and help solve the energy crisis simultaneously!
Wow, you're pretty good at that, ~C, but I didn't know you were that short.
Hello, Jordan and all,
I just went to Number Quest my favorite online source for quick numerology help and based on what I discovered, my preference for ChiBoucing is reinforced.
The 7, though certainly spiritual, is much more serious and hermit-like. There is more joy and pleasure in the 6 and it offers a nurturing and uplifting vibration. The fact that the personality number for ChiBouncing is a 33, a master number of inspiration, teacher of teachers and high spiritual vibration, is very attractive, to me.
I didn't check out Bouncing, but I think ChiBouncing as a title clearly identifies and differentiates this from your run of the mill bounce. ;-)
Good luck with your naming process. It is interesting to hear people's perspectives on name choices. Whatever you decide to call it, I know it's going to be GREAT!
Bright bouncing blessings,
Jodi
Name: chibouncing
Expression: 60 / 6
Family and home life are your main interests. You know how to nurture and accept anyone, therefore, many are drawn to you including those that others call, “strays”. You have an eye for anything beautiful and your home is sure to reflect this, no matter what your budget is. You are proud of all your possessions and especially of the talents of your family members. Your generous, creative nature makes you the ideal host or guest at a party.
Soul Urge: 27 / 9
Like the number 6 soul urge, your life revolves around giving and receiving love. Your desire, however, includes the whole of humanity and a few races besides. Compassion, passion and forgiveness make up your essence and you are very generous and impressionable. The fine arts call out to you and you may in fact have a master artist living inside of you.
Personality: 33 / 6
People and animals are attracted by your maternal nurturing and affectionate appearance. It feels good being around you, as you are always looking for ways that you can make someone more comfortable. Yours is the path of the mind. Silence and solitude are your doorways into the deep recesses of the mind and the universe. You are the philosopher, the analyst, the seeker and if you'd be willing, the teacher. The time and energy that you spend discovering the microscopic core of things has gifted you with the ability to tap into psychic energy. It is with this energy that you can separate the true from the false.

Personality: 34 / 7
There is an air of mystery and secrecy about you. You are poised and sophisticated, and prefer to dress in a clean, well-groomed and understated way. You seem unapproachable to others because of your introspective and analytical temperament. You are the philosophical loner, the probing seeker, and only those of like-mind really understand.
man, Jodi! you're such a numerology geek! :) i like seven too.
too bad they don't accept numbers on the name so i guess i have to just go with this imperfect 5 character word, but still, it's sooo me! :)
“You've got a style all your own, even if you don't follow fashion.” like i said, it's sooo me! LOL.
Name: chaos
Expression: 19 / 10 / 1
You have an innate ability to get what you want and what you need for your survival. You are primarily concerned about developing the self and acquiring resources for your own enjoyment. Your independence and courageous determination to succeed makes you a good leader, and your unique approach is sure to open the doors to brave new worlds and fascinating discoveries.
Soul Urge: 7
You are a philosopher by nature. Inside, you are calm shy and reserved, preferring to live alone in your own perfect world of thoughts and intuitive analysis of life's deeper mysteries. You experience irritation and upset in noisy or chaotic environments, as your hearing is more sensitive than most peoples. You have a good ear for music and are probably drawn to complex and meditative melodies.
Personality: 12 / 3
There seems to be a golden glow of optimism and joy around you wherever you go. You are witty and playful, and your idealistic nature irresistibly draws the little child out of everyone you meet. Ever creative and interesting to talk to, you are never long without people to cluster around your radiance. You enjoy dressing up and are very creative with accessories. You've got a style all your own, even if you don't follow fashion.
Wow, Jodi, you went out and actually came back with the equivalent of data. That's amazing.
I think of it in terms of the “c” versus the “d.” C's s are a lot more flowing and mobile than “D's are, it seems to me. Just like K's are funny.
Right now I'm feeling like the more I play with both of them, ChiBouncing seems fresher and newer and more possible than ChiBounding, which, while I've been using it longer, still has that hard “D” stop in it (there I am back to the sounds of the letters).
I really do appreicate all of your comments and thoughts here.
What do you mean k’s are funny?! :-) (hehehe)
at irst blush i thought ChiBounding was better, for what Matthew said above. Bound references unbounded ____ (love, energy, spirit, etc.) and i thought that was nice. but ChiBouncing has a fresher more energetic sound to it while ChiBounding starts to sound more dogmatic next to it. perhaps ChiBouncing conveys more of what you are doing and wanting to get across.
… .and yes, i am still bouncing myself. i love it :)
-krisztina
Great to see you here, Agent K! Those of you following this dialogue may be interested to know that Krisztina painted the painting that I am using as my icon mostly, as well as the other rebounding paintings you can see in my photos. She’s an incredible artist (as well as a great person) and I recommend that you check out her stuff!
As for ChiBouncing, I think the “c” may really have it over the “d.” “D” for dogmatic, as you pointed out, and “c” for … “cuddly”? “circular”? “Christ-like resurrectin of the bouncing body”?
I think it is worth noting that “c”, si and see are all homophones. ;-)
I love language! And naming things. To me it is a way of blessing. Oh, yeah, they call it christening, don't they. It appears there's a lot of juice on the letter c.
Bless you!
